Ready, Set GO...How to prepare for a job fair |
What to bring to the Job Fair
It is important to come to the job fair prepared to meet with and talk to employers.
Don't forget to dress to impress. You only have ONE chance to make a good FIRST impression.
You can't go wrong by dressing how you would if you had a VERY important job or college interview.
Information on a personal fact sheet:
Personal Information Full name Address (including City, State, and Zip) Home phone number Alternative phone number Email address Date of birth Social Security Number Driver's License Number
Educational Background List the schools you have attended high school and on) List the most recent school attended first (and the address of that school we re not really sure why applications ask for the school s address, but most do) Dates attended Grade completed Diploma or certification received (high school diploma, certificate of completion, AA degree in Accounting, etc.)
High School Classes List the skills you learned that will help you in the job you want List the tools, machinery, and equipment you have used in your classes and/or training.
Extracurricular activities List the activities in which you participate, the number of years involved, and any leadership roles.
Other training If you have had any formal or informal training that might help you prepare for a future job, write it down.
Special skills & other experience Review your background and think about the skills you have that an employer will find most important. For example: good worker traits, organizational skills, work ethic, etc. Plus, think about if you have any other experiences that prove you can work hard, organize your time, or show other strengths. This can even include responsibilities you have at home and volunteer work.
References List 3 people who can say good things about you and the quality of your work. This might be teachers, counselors, or previous supervisors. You will need their contact information, too. This means address and phone numbers. Remember to ask references 1st if it s okay to use their name. It s not a good idea to list friends or family members.
