The 2nd annual Let’s Get It Started Youth Job Fair will be held at the Montgomery College, Rockville Campus Gymnasium, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville, MD 20850 on Saturday, April 14, 2007.

Youth can meet face to face with the area’s employers that will come ready to hire. The event will begin at April 14, 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m.  We expect over 75 business participants. Sponsored by the County’s Workforce Investment Board’s Youth Council, Let’s Get It Started is a partnership of the Workforce Investment Board, the One Stop Career center and the LAYC/Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers.

This year’s event has designated two weeks in March, 19th-23rd and 26th-30th, to provide workshops for Montgomery County High School students that will help them prepare for:

How to Stand Out in a Job Fair’!  The Montgomery Works Team wants to equip our youth with the tools needed to be confident, and ready to work the job fair. The workshops will address the following:

·                    Sample Questions for Students to Ask at the Employer Booth Visits

·                    Possible Mock Interview Questions

·                    Students are encouraged to bring a resume and be prepared for onsite interviews (i.e. dress appropriately, questions to ask etc.)

Students will be provided with an Employer Booth Form, in order to document their experience at the job fair.  As in the past year, students will have an opportunity to win door prizes.  In order to qualify for the door prize drawings they must complete the Employer Booth Form.

To assist us in planning, we would appreciate receiving information from your school and the date that you are interested in receiving the forms.  Please note that the registration deadline is Friday, March 12, 2007.  See the registration form below.

Thank you for your interest in this event.  Feel free to contact Bessie Allen at 301-495-0441 ext. 231 or via email at Bessie@layc-dc.org if you have any questions.
